One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops – a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.

At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, “Big John doesn’t pay!” and sat down at the back.

Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn’t argue with Big John, but he wasn’t happy about it. The next day the same thing happened – Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the next.

This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him, Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.

By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what’s more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once again got on the bus and said, “Big John doesn’t pay!”

The driver stood up, glared back at the passenger,  and screamed, “And why not?”

With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied, “Big John has a bus pass.”

Moral of the story:

“Be sure there is a problem in the first place-before working hard to solve it!”

Bill Gates - Outsmarted (Watch Out Mr.Gates)

Ben was in the airport VIP lounge en route to Seattle a couple of weeks ago.

While in there, he noticed Bill Gates sitting comfortably in the corner, enjoying a drink. Ben was meeting a very important client who was also flying to Seattle, but she was running a little bit late.

Well, being a straightforward kind of guy, Ben approached the Microsoft chairman, introduced himself, and said, “Mr. Gates, I wonder if you would do me a favor.”

“Yes?”

“I’m sitting right over there, “pointing to his seat at the bar, “and I’m waiting for a very important client. Would you be so kind when she arrives as to come walk by and just say “Hi Tom?”

“Sure.”

Ben shook his hand and thanked him and went back to his seat. About ten minutes later, his client showed up. They ordered a drink and started to talk business. A couple of minutes later, Ben felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Bill Gates.

“Hi, Tom, “he said.

Ben replied, “Shut up, Bill, I’m in a meeting!”

Moral of the story:

No doubt, Ben was REALLY smart. But the question is do we need to be so aggressive and inconsiderate?

Have a Happy Weekend

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second during spring, the third during summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said, no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they all were right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree’s life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season or one interaction or few meetings. The essence of who they are, the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If up give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.

Let us not judge life by just one global recession!

Anna and Arvind:

Initially it was a movement. Went very well. Whole India Supported. Millions of people were behind the Movement and Anna. Unprecedental support in the history of India to Anna and the Movement next only to Jayaprakash Narayanan's Movement in 70's. But politicians ridiculed them and asked them who are you? They said they are the peoples elected representatives and they will decide what to do and what not to do. They said ' legislation can not be made on the streets and roads. Come to politics and represent people'. But Anna due to his age feared entering politics or must have feared politics itself. Arvind had the guts to come out of Anna and started a political party and made use of the first available opportunity. Today he is a force to reckon with. If Anna and Arvind joined hands many politicians and many political parties would have been thrown in to the Bay of Bengal. Minus Anna Arvind might struggle a bit but he is a doer. He will deliver goods. He will change India. He will give us the much needed alternative. He will change the system. All he needs is people's support. If we want our children to be in a 'safe India'  and feel secure then here is Man whom we all should support. We all do not need to get into politics. If we could identify one person in the whole of India, who would be honest, sincere to the People, loyal to the voters, dedicated in the services of Nation - it is enough. We did not need 100 Gandhis. Under one Gandhi we got our freedom. I am not trying to equate Gandhi to Arvind. But under the circumstances he is our hope. All other politicians and parties are either not sincere or not trust worthy. For that reason let us all throw our weight solidly behind Arvind and change India upside down - for a better tomorrow. Why not?

What do you mean by saying 'Country will punish'? Is Ganguly above law? Court is nothing to do with him or what? I had great respect for you. But you have failed me.

Absolutely right approach. But no one is going to join him. At the end of the day Arvind is going to say ' See, I told you, not one single good man has come to us which means there are no good people at all in other parties'.

Real Test

It is going to be testing time for AAP. Already there are two views about supporting or not supporting BJP.

1 VIEW: Give outside support to avoid an another election and save Public's money. This idea from AAP leader Prashanth Bhushan can not be brushed aside. Saving public's money should be given priority. The elections will lose its charm and voter turnout is not going to be this high if the elections are held again in 6 months. Even that may not be the big issue. Issue is wasting another 200 crores of public money. It is a crime. On this ground there is a valid point if any one asks why not give issue based and conditional support to BJP and keep the ball rolling. Let these new AAP MLAs will get some experience in Governance in these 5 years and that will help them a lot in future. It will be a tough task for them too, to rule an important State like Delhi without any experience at all. So, one should take this opportunity to sit in the opposition and still have a say in everything as a blessing in disguise.

2nd VIEW: We have maintained all these months that there is no question of any support either to Cong or to BJP either directly or indirectly. Suddenly if we change our stance people will doubt our integrity. 'AAP is an another political party and there is no difference at all' - people will say. In stead if we stick to our principle and face and win the election ( most likely to happen) in another six months we can rule the State to our satisfaction. We can show the whole country how a State should be ruled. We can create a Model State. We can pass LOKPAL BILL - State Version- and let every one know that we mean business.We can eradicate corruption to the maximum extent and ask Cong and BJP 'what you people were doing all these years'?  If we rule Delhi well and it will spread to Haryana, where Assembly elections round the Corner, and we will have another State in our pocket soon. If not,  we may have to wait for another 5 years to change the system and to show the country what we are capable of. Is it not a too much of a waiting?

Both the above views are correct. Some will be totally for VIEW 1 and some will be totally for VIEW 2. We do not know how AAP is going satisfy all their members in its party. The problem starts here.

My view is which ever stand they take they have to take the people in to confidence - reaching out to them - informing them - explaining them - convincing them. No question of HIGH COMMAND culture.

Its Not About What U Do, Its All About How U Do It.

On his first day, as President, Abraham Lincoln entered to give his inaugural address, just in the middle, one man stood up. He was a rich aristocrat. He said, “Mr. Lincoln, you should not forget that your father used to make shoes for my family”. And the whole Senate laughed; they thought they had made a fool of Abraham Lincoln.

But Lincoln – and that type of people are made of totally different mettle, looked at the man and said, “Sir, I know that my father used to make shoes for your family, and there will be many others here …… because the way he made shoes; nobody else can. He was a creator. His shoes were not just shoes, he poured his whole soul into it. I want to ask you, have you any complaint? Because I know how to make shoes myself if you have any complaint I can make another pair of shoes. But as far as I know, nobody has ever complained about my father’s shoes. He was a genius, a creator and I am proud of my father”.

The entire Senate was struck dumb. They could not understand what kind of man Abraham Lincoln was. He had made shoe making an art, a creativity. And he was proud because his father did the job so well that not even a single complaint had ever been heard.

Moral of the story:

It does not matter what you do. What matter is how you do it – of your own accord, with your own vision, with your own love. Then what ever you touch becomes gold.
